A new website allowing users to search for up-to-the-minute real time events in pubs across the country has been launched.

The website, www.inapub.co.uk, enables licensees to communicate with their local and wider communities through applications such as Facebook, Twitter and text messages.

The site enables pubs and bars to enter their venue's information, including style of operation, menus, opening hours, facilities and events. Customers can sign up for alerts from the pubs.

There are currently 43 pubs signed up — mostly in the Brighton and Hove area. "Customers can even follow the pub's activity on Twitter, so not missing a trick about what's going on at their local," said founder Robin Bratel. "It enables them to easily build their own on-line community, allowing customers to share stories, news, feedback and photos with each other and the pub itself."

Licensees can get a basic free listing or opt for a top of the range platinum package £500, which includes a personal visit, full service update and marketing package.

Janet White, from The Rose Tavern, said: "Our promotional activity and events are automatically sent to all those that have signed up, which makes my marketing more cost effective and highly targeted."
