Mitchell's of Lancaster, the family-owned pub operator and brewer, is selling six freehold pubs as part of a rationalisation of the pub group's estate.

The six pubs, which are spread across Lancashire and South Cumbria, are available individually, in parcels or as a group and are being sold trough Christie & Co.

Mitchell's of Lancaster currently operates circa 60 pubs, five hotels and a craft brewery based in York. The company's estate comprises of a mixture of city centre venues, food-led sites and local community pubs mainly in the North West and York/ Leeds.

Andrew Barker, joint managing director of Mitchell's of Lancaster, said: "As part of our continued development we have identified a small number of properties for disposal that are no longer part of our core business strategy."

Neil Morgan, head of pubs at Christie + Co, said: "These freehold units have been placed on the market as part of strategic review of the Mitchell's of Lancaster estate. They are perfect for either first-time entrants or established operators looking to expand their estates."
