After 13 years of trying Coventry's Corner Post pub team has finally triumphed in The Publican Pub Golf Tournament.
The team, representing the Midlands, won the final of this year's event, sponsored by Fuller's London Pride, which was played over two days at the world renowned La Manga in Spain this week.
The Corner Post scored the most points over 36 holes, beating rivals from DJs Nightclub in Leigh, Lancashire, representing the North and Scotland, and the Ghyllgrove Club in Basildon, Essex, representing the South.
Corner Post team captain Mark Sephton, who top scored over the two days with 66 Stableford points, said: "I have had a great time. It has taken us 13 years of entering to get to this stage and it is fantastic to win.
"To me just getting to the regional final is a great achievement but to come to La Manga and win is really special.
"We will be back next year to try and defend our title and I will enter for as long as I can because it is such a well run event."
This year around 3,000 players entered the amateur tournament, which has been running for 17 years, under the name of their local pub or club.
It began with area heats, with the top 12 teams qualifying for area finals. The area finals' three winning teams go onto a two-day regional final, and the winners of each region go head-to-head in La Manga for the title.
