Corona Extra has joined forces with MTV to hunt for top DJ talent.
Movida Corona, recognised as a major world music event, is being officially launched this month under the banner of "The beginning of a legend".
The final of the competition will be broadcast on MTV across the continent. In the UK, regional heats and finals will take place over the summer culminating in a grand final in London in December.
Corona will be backing the heats with a high profile promotional campaign including POS material, Corona branded vehicles, giant inflatable bottles and promotional girls.
The Grand Finale is a global event with mixing masters from 14 countries battling it out for the coveted title of Movida Corona World Champion. Past host cities have included Rome, Marrakech and Vienna.
The overall global winner of this year's competition will sign a contract for a rare residency of four performances at Ministry of Sound and mix a CD compilation for "Movida Corona 2010", which will be released by PIAS records.
Organiser of Movida Corona and former Movida world champion, Andy Milford, said: "This is a recognised path for hot club and bedroom DJs, who are seeking to breakthrough to a bigger audience.
"In an industry, where it has become increasingly difficult for the next generation of DJing stars to get a break, Movida Corona provides that crucial breakthrough.
"This is an international championship for DJs who are passionate about their craft and recognise it as a 'bona fide' art form requiring a credible platform."
Angel Garcia Gomez, head of Corona Extra in the UK, added: "Movida Corona is a worldwide DJ music event that reflects the global positioning of the brand.
"We are delighted that this year's event will feature a strong partnership with MTV — another instantly recognised and vibrant global brand — to give the Movida Corona performers exposure to an even bigger audience."
