Licensees could win up to £10,250 in a competition to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease at the Guinness brewery.
Hosts simply have to answer why their pub is a great Guinness pub and what it does to support the community, in less than 250 words.
The winner will be crowned Guinness 250 Community Outlet of the Year and receive a prize of £10,250 to invest in their outlet with £5,125 going towards improvements such as plasma screen TVs and a year's Sky TV subscription, pub redecoration or beer garden furniture. A total of £3,075 will be allocated to bonuses for staff.
Five runners up will each receive a prize of £2,500.
"We are delighted to be offering licensees such a huge competition prize in our 250th year," said Paul Cornell, marketing manager for Guinness at Diageo GB.
"Arthur Guinness was a strong believer in supporting the community and 250 years on we at Guinness still hold the same belief.
"In the current climate we're showing our support to licensees and giving them the opportunity, not only to win a great high value prize, but to shout about all the great things they do for their local community.
"The competition prizes will go towards making great outlets even better, driving footfall for licensees and providing great experiences for the community."
Launching on 27 April 2009, the competition will run until 14 August 2009. To enter, licensees can send their responses by email to guinness250outlet@tph-uk.com or by post to FREEPOST RRZH-JHLB-AJYU, Great Guinness 250 Outlet, Olympic House, The Birches, East Grinstead, RH19 1EH.
