'Apology for 'topless' drinks offer'

A pub chain has apologised for offering free drinks to women who bared their breasts to staff. Labour MP for Rotherham Denis MacShane claimed the Sinners bar in Newcastle was promoting the degradation of women by encouraging them to go topless. Later the North Shields-based Ladhar Group, which owns the bar, apologised and said a member of staff had been disciplined - Yahoo News​

A total of 23 pubs which formed part of the managed estate of Liverpool-based Cains Beer Company were today bought by Blackpool chain Amber Taverns.They include pubs in Manchester city centre, Oldham, Tyldesley, Radcliffe, Northwich and Nantwich. Cains was placed in administration last August, and a month later its former owners, Sudarghara and Ajmail Dusanj, bought back the brewery and nine pubs - Manchester Evening News​

London Town: The AIM-listed tenanted pub company, backed by Lord Ashcroft, has started working with bigger rivals including Punch Taverns and Enterprise Inns with a view to reopening pubs that have closed down. It said that 125 pubs had reopened under its management in the four months to the end of March - The Times​

Teenagers are to be handed their own local - with an alcohol-free pub. The Prince Of Wales, in West Street, Crewe, will open as a pub for 13 to 19-year-olds within three months. And the company behind the plans is looking at finding Stoke-on-Trent venues which can be transformed under the Teenage Pubs scheme.The pub will offer the same services as any standard pub except for alcohol and gambling - The Sentinel​

Supermarket Tesco today rung up sales of £1 billion a week and annual profits of more than £3 billion for the first time in its history.The retail giant posted sales of £54.3 billion in the 12 months to February 28, while its underlying pre-tax profits set another milestone - up 8.8 per cent to £3.13 billion. But the growth in profits was far lower than the 11.8 per cent seen the previous year after what has been a tough time for Tesco amid stiff competition and a consumer - The Daily Mail​
