A pub chain has apologised for offering free drinks to women who bared their breasts to staff. Labour MP for Rotherham Denis MacShane claimed the Sinners bar in Newcastle was promoting the degradation of women by encouraging them to go topless. Later the North Shields-based Ladhar Group, which owns the bar, apologised and said a member of staff had been disciplined - Yahoo News

A total of 23 pubs which formed part of the managed estate of Liverpool-based Cains Beer Company were today bought by Blackpool chain Amber Taverns.They include pubs in Manchester city centre, Oldham, Tyldesley, Radcliffe, Northwich and Nantwich. Cains was placed in administration last August, and a month later its former owners, Sudarghara and Ajmail Dusanj, bought back the brewery and nine pubs - Manchester Evening News

Supermarket Tesco today rung up sales of £1 billion a week and annual profits of more than £3 billion for the first time in its history.The retail giant posted sales of £54.3 billion in the 12 months to February 28, while its underlying pre-tax profits set another milestone - up 8.8 per cent to £3.13 billion.
