Fuller's backs Gales Seafarers Ale

Gales Seafarers Ale is to be added to London brewer Fullers' year-round cask ale range.

The 3.6% abv brew has twice appeared on Fuller's seasonal ale calendar in the autumn. Three pounds of every barrel of beer sold goes to maritime charity Seafarers UK.

Gales Seafarers is billed as a delicious, thirst-quenching ale, featuring Admiral hops to continue the nautical theme.

John Roberts, managing director of The Fuller's Beer Company, said: "Gales Seafarers has built up a strong following in its time as a seasonal beer and I'm delighted that in response to demand from drinkers and very positive feedback from our customers, we can launch Seafarers as a permanent addition to our range.

"I am also pleased that we are able to continue our strong links with Seafarers UK, whereby £3 from every barrel sold will go to this great cause.

"Over the last two years we have raised over £8,000 to help people who have worked at sea, including serving and former members of the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and fishing fleets and their families."

Commodore Barry Bryant, Director General, Seafarers UK, said: "I am thrilled that Fuller's has decided to make Seafarers a permanent fixture in their beer range and that the beer can help us raise even more funds for the many thousands of seafarers in distress.

"Like many people, I have enjoyed a pint or two when it has been previously available and am looking forward to seeing it in many more pubs and clubs around the country, particularly those with strong links to the sea."
