Carlsberg UK has begun selling Russia's number-one beer Baltika, Greek lager Mythos and Belgian beer Grimbergen, in the wake of its Scottish & Newcastle acquisition.
The company confirmed that the New World beers, following their transfer from Heineken, will be sold and distributed for both the on and off-trade through Carlsberg.
Baltika, a premium 5.1% abv lager available in kegs, 500ml and 300ml bottles, sells more than 15 million hectolitres per annum and has achieved over 400 awards.
The 5% abv Mythos will be available in 330ml bottles. Belgian abbey beer Grimbergen will be released in two variants — 6.7% abv Grimbergen Blonde and 6.5% abv Grimbergen Double. Both will also be available in 330ml bottles.
Carlsberg UK head of brands Paul Davies said that the addition of the brands to the Carlsberg portfolio allows the company to cater for a "fast-growing and ever more discerning market".
He added: "Consumers are looking to explore new and different beers. As with the trends in food, beer drinkers are placing greater emphasis on provenance and authenticity as the growth in the market illustrates."
