Michael Jackson collection at Oxford Brookes
The contents of beer hunter Michael Jackson's office have been donated to Oxford Brookes University.
Top beer expert Michael Jackson died aged 65 last year. He had dedicated more than 30 years to the pursuit and documentation of the world's finest beers and whiskies, and wrote many books on both subjects.
Jackson became known as the most widely-published and influential author on beer. He developed a cult TV series known as The Beer Hunter, and contributed to countless publications.
He was especially well-known for his particular passion - the speciality brews of Belgium, which prompted his bestselling Great Beers of Belgium.
The contents of the office, to be known as The Michael Jackson Collection, comprises 1,500 books from the expert's personal library on beer and whisky,
as well as 300 copies of his own books.
There is also some research material, hand-written notebooks, photos and a selection of awards.
"We are very excited to receive this gift of the books and papers of 'The Beer Hunter'," said Don Marshall of Oxford Brookes University Library.
"The Michael Jackson Collection will work in parallel with the National Brewing Library, already located in Oxford Brookes University Library and jointly managed by members of the Library and the Institute of Brewing & Distilling.
"It will also complement other special collections in food and drink - one of the key areas of research excellence in the University."
Frances Kelly, Michael Jackson's literary executor and agent, added: "The executors are delighted that this material will now be stored, organised and made available, as is their wish, for research by a new generation of whisky and beer writers, students and the drinks industry."
