Arkell's appoints Russell as FD
Arkell's has appointed local accountant Barry Russell as its new finance director.
He replaces Ray Fisher who retired last month after 34 years with the company. Russell has moved to Arkell's Brewery from his previous role as a partner in the Swindon office of Top 20 accountancy Firm Bentley Jennison.
James Arkell, Chairman of Arkell's Brewery, said: "We are delighted to welcome Barry onto our staff. The wide view of business he has gained from working with a range of companies in his previous role will be especially welcome at a time when we have more rules, regulations and red tape to navigate than at any other time in history."
Having spent more than 20 years in private accountancy practice, Russell, a born and bred Swindonian, says he is looking forward to the new challenge of working for the town's oldest and most well-known company.
"I've known Arkell's Brewery all my life, and drank the beer. Now I've also got the opportunity to make a contribution to their on-going success."
