Enterprise Inns, which was recently given the go-ahead to become a real estate investment trust, is selling more than 80 of its pubs as part of a churning exercise.

The 82 pubs, which are being marketed by Christie + Co, are spread across England and Wales.

The sites for sale are a mixture of freehold and leasehold properties. Some will be viable as pubs for smaller operators, but most will be destined for alternative use.

The freehold units, which make up the majority of the package, range in price from £175,000 to £800,000, according to the agent.

Noel Moffitt, Christie + Co director, said: "The majority of this package of pubs is aimed at the alternative use market. This is a great opportunity for purchasers to acquire properties for conversion or redevelopment."

Christie is also currently marketing 26 lease opportunities spread across England and Wales on behalf of Enterprise.

The pub operator recently announced its results for the first half of its financial year, noting it had spent £32m on 40 pubs and disposed 18 underperforming pubs and surplus land for £12 million.

At the half year end Enterprise said its estate comprised 7,785 pubs.
