JW Lees claims a series of management changes show it is "serious about growth when most companies are cutting costs".

Simon Cross is taking over as director of finance following the retirement of Glyn Bruffell, who is taking early retirement to spend more time with his family.

Cross, who qualified as a chartered accountant, previously worked for GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services as UK financial controller.

Chris Connolly, meanwhile, is taking over as director of retail. A consultant for the past two years, Connolly has previously worked for Grand Met, Wilsons & Webster's, Playmaster Leisure, Boddington Pubco, Greenalls and De Vere Hotels.

Chris is also a fellow of the BII, a council member of the North West Wines & Spirits Association and a regular judge at food and beverage awards and competitions.

William Lees-Jones, managing director of JW Lees, said: "JW Lees has ambitious plans for the future and these appointments reflect our commitment to these plans - there are plenty of opportunities out there".
