A multi-award-winning team have taken on the Hogget, near Hook, Hampshire. Formerly the Dorchester Arms, the site has just re-opened following a joint investment of £300,000 from landlords Marston's Inns & Taverns and experienced licensees Tom and Vicky Faulkner.
Tom and Vicky were formerly at the Vine in Hambledon, where they won the Marston's Best Pub Food Award 2007. They have brought with them head chef Simon Brooks who was runner-up in the pub company's Chef of the Year category.
Tom said: "We make everything in house and the emphasis is on quality. We moved because we wanted a bigger site — we kept turning people away at the Vine because we were full.
"The Hogget is also much closer to business than the Vine, with a prominent A-road position — we've been packed since we opened last month."
Main-course prices range from £7 to £15 and the pub specialises in fish dishes. The brand new lease sold
for an undisclosed price through Christie+Co.
The two storey, detached property comprises a public bar to seat 14, a lower restaurant area to seat 18, a raised restaurant area to seat, three-bedroom owner's accommodation, a large trade terrace for 100 customers and a car park.
