How was trade over the Bank Holiday weekend?

Absolutely brilliant. We had the first decent weather this year and people seized the chance to enjoy themselves. We were busy from Friday teatime right up to Monday closing time. Trade was well up on an average bank holiday — I think everyone decided they'd read enough bad news about the economy.

We had a great weekend, especially on "Super Sunday" as it is known around here, when we were at our busiest. But business on all four days was really excellent and there was certainly no evidence of a slow-down or people reining in their spending.

Quite honestly it was the busiest Bank Holiday weekend for some time, and Blackpool as a whole was full of visitors. We did good business throughout. The great weather on Monday made it a fantastic day for us — the bowling green and terrace were heaving with customers.

We were steady throughout, although much of our trade was food-led, particularly on Sunday. People were waiting to see what the weather did and when it rained on the Sunday morning they made their plans and we were very busy. All in all we were very happy with the level of trade.
