No summer menu would be truly complete without a decent pint to accompany the pub grub.

Greene King, as one of the country's leading brewers, has offered a few pointers on beers to be enjoyed with summer menus.

St Edmunds - a new golden cask ale from Greene King. Specially brewed to be served cooler than traditional cask ales, it is served between 6 and 8 degrees.

St Edmunds is described as "wonderfully quenching" with "an intensely fruity aroma balanced by juicy malt and spicy hops." Refreshing and crisp, St Edmunds goes perfectly with chicken satay skewers and salad.

Ale Fresco- one of Greene King's summer seasonal cask ales, Ale Fresco (is a blonde beer with a zesty aroma. The fresh citrus flavour matches well with Greek salads, with sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese.

Sundance - another seasonal summer ale and a new brew for 2008, Sundance is light in colour with floral aromas which complement food perfectly. It matches nicely with full flavoured summer dishes like venison salad and barbequed lamb kebabs.

Greene King IPA Chilled - a great choice for drinkers who prefer a cold nitrokeg ale during the summer. Greene King IPA Chilled has fresh, hoppy flavours and a clean, bitter finish which can be enjoyed with curried dishes such as Coronation Chicken.

Old Speckled Hen - An ideal choice for barbeques, Old Speckled Hen is best enjoyed with full flavoured foods, including mature cheeses as well as barbecued meats. Sweet foods also work well with the warm toffee undertones of this beer; which is a delicious accompaniment to summer tarts and puddings.
