Taybarns, the Whitbread eat-all-you-like concept that much of the managed sector is studying, is lining up a third opening.

The company is planning to open in Buchanan Gate, Glasgow.

The Morning Advertiser has also learnt that the first site, in Swansea, is serving around 6,000 guests a week - almost twice the highest volume Mitchells & Butlers brand, Pub and Carvery, which averages 3,400 covers a week.

The number of covers suggests that the outlet is selling at least £40,000 of food a week.

The Glasgow opening follows a highly successful launch in December of the first Taybans, a former Brewers Fayre.

Recruitment has already begun for the third Taybarns site - the second is in Coventry. Taybarns is tagged as "the ultimate eatery".

Guests are charged £5.95 before 5.30pm between Monday and Friday, with prices rising to £7.95 afterwards.

Guests pay £7.95 all through the weekend with children under 10 paying £4.50 at all times.

Dining experience

The venue tells guests that Taybarns aims to offer "an entertaining dining experience with a huge selection of quality food, freshly prepared in front of you by our chefs and all at one fixed price".

The pub features a 34-metre long food counter. A diverse menu offers salad, rotisserie, grill, pizza, pasta, wok and carvery.

The first site is located on the Swansea Enterprise Park at Morriston, Swansea, next to a Premier Inn.

Last year, restaurant boss Mark Phillips, who has now left the business, said the company was keen to experiment with ways of presenting fresh food.

Taybarns is supposed to provide an "exciting new restaurant concept delivering a unique and interactive dining experience"
