Marston's appoints new marketing execs
Marston's Pub Company has appointed Amelia Cree as its new marketing executive.
Her role is to support the pubco's licensees in developing the marketing effort for their pubs. Cree said: "I am passionate about helping retailers. My role is to increase the level of support that we offer our pubs and raise the standard of marketing across the estate."
Having recently completed the Marston's graduate training scheme, Cree has undertaken projects across all four divisions of the business, before deciding to work for the Marston's Pub Company estate.
St Austell's hands-on head of retail
Tina Cogan joins Cornwall's St Austell Brewery as head of retail, a newly-created role. She will be responsible for the brewer's 32 managed pubs.
Tina's home is in Hinton St George, Somerset. However, she stays four nights a week in St Austell Brewery Hotels & Inns.
She said: "The best way I can gain a true understanding of our houses is to experience them
as a customer.
"Attention to detail is key and staying overnight at our hotels and inns helps me to see what we do well and also highlights areas for attention I might otherwise have missed."
Jeremy Mitchell, head of marketing at the brewery, said:
"She knows the south-west like
the back of her hand already.
We're absolutely thrilled. She's got loads of energy."
Bromley ready to champion pubs
Punch Taverns has appointed a key new figure in its campaign to champion and support pubs in the east of England. Mark Bromley, previously a business relationship manager with Punch, will take on the new role of operations manager in April covering the counties of Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
Bromley will work closely with five business relationship managers to support Punch's licensees and help them build better businesses.
Bromley said: "This is a challenging and exciting time for the pub industry. We are always looking to raise our game and that comes down to us having the right people running our pubs, so I'll also be looking to recruit some really high-calibre operators."
Clayson takes on membership role
Beer-quality scheme Cask Marque has appointed Roger Clayson to look after membership. Clayson worked closely with Cask Marque boss Paul Nunny at Adnams brewery.
"Roger's role will be to look after existing corporate members and look for new brewers and pub groups that may wish to buy into our services," said Nunny.
"Annabel Smith, our current national account manager, will focus in future on training, where there is a strong demand from the industry. I look forward to being reunited with Roger, and his skills and enthusiasm will be a great bonus to Cask Marque."
Falcon becomes Sheps' production director
Kent-based Shepherd Neame has appointed Tom Falcon as production and distribution director. He will replace Ian Dixon, who is to retire in July. Falcon, 38, will join the brewer and pub operator in June from the Maersk Company, a national shipping firm, where he was director of strategy and process excellence, responsible for business and process improvement.
Prior to Maersk, Falcon worked at AT Kearney, the management consultant. He has an MBA from INSEAD. Shepherd Neame chairman Miles Templeman said: "I am delighted to welcome Tom to the company. We are confident that his experience, particularly in process excellence and transportation, will be of significant benefit to Shepherd Neame in supporting the growth and development of the business."
Malhotra heads for Constellation
Former InBev European general counsel Deepak Malhotra has resurfaced as general counsel of the European arm of US drinks brand owner Constellation.
Malhotra replaces former Constellation Europe general counsel Anne Colquhoun, who is retiring. He left InBev in January, partly because of the strain of commuting from the UK to Belgium, and will now be based at Constellation's Guildford offices.
"I'm very committed to the role of the legal function and the strategic development of the function in areas like learning and training," he said. "Over a period of time, I'll be thinking about developing these areas at Constellation as well."
Constellation Europe owns major wine brands such as Hardys, Kumala and Banrock Station. Since Malhotra's departure, InBev has split the EU role and hired Benoit Loore from the Belgian Banking Commission to fill a new corporate legal position.
