Two pubcos are set to unveil major new outlets this week at Heathrow Airport's new multi-million pound Terminal Five.

JD Wetherspoon and Geronimo Inns are both launching new venues on Thursday (March 27), when the terminal has its official opening.

Wetherspoons is opening two "airside" bars - the Crown Rivers and the Wetherspoon Express, costing a total of £1.35m.

It will bring the company's tally of bars at Heathrow Airport to nine - a total of 25 across all UK airports.

Both bars will open from 5.30am, until the last flight at around 10.45pm, throughout the week.

The Crown Rivers will have a British theme to its menu, with fish and chips, bangers and mash, haggis and Irish stew.

Wetherspoons' general manager, Barry Brewster, said: "Our airport pubs are immensely popular with travellers from across the world - and we are delighted that they will now be able to enjoy Wetherspoon's fare at Terminal Five too."

On the same day, Geronimo Inns will launch the Five Tuns pub and kitchen. It will be its third outlet at Heathrow, after the Tin Goose at Terminal 1 and the Three Bells at Terminal 3.

The Five Tuns menu will have a more upmarket feel, featuring classic British dishes and a range of long drinks, ales and wide variety of wines.

A spokesman for Geronimo Inns said: "Our target market are those who want the safety of a great pint, Bloody Mary or glass off wine from the extensive wine list, who happily sit side by side with one of the jet set attracted by the modern pub design."
