Tenanted operator Enterprise Inns has joined forces with the Wrapid flatbread sandwich chain to trial a unique food solution at a "run-down pub" in Pontefract.
The pub was converted to Bar Wrapid in mid-December.
The site now trades as a licensed hybrid sandwich bar/cafe bar. Wrapid, which operates from five other sites, is now understood to be eyeing other Enterprise venues.
Enterprise regional divisional director Phil Griffiths said: "We're looking at a number of food solutions through the estate.
"We're trying to think outside of the box."
Wrapid has been described as a highly flexible, simple-to-operate, ethnic flatbread operation.
Ethnic flatbreads, like pitta and tortilla, provide the freedom to bake-off fresh, unleavened breads in a fast food format and in a tight space.
Wrapid founder Stephen Minall said: "Essentially, a run-down boozer in Pontefract was offered and treated with the full Wrapid offer, including the fast food effect of unique packaging, wooden serving trays and even free refills on coffee.
"It eliminates all back-of-house, lowers staff levels, is easy to operate, is five-star rated from environmental health and offers a fresh baked wrap with International ethnic fillings.
"The wraps are a real hit and offer an operational solution to food in this sector.
"It's cost effective from a capital point of view and lowers operating costs, storage requirements and is fast from a customer service point of view." Wrapid has sites in Leeds Central, Leeds University, Sheffield, York and London, with Dubai opening in April.
"It was especially developed for kiosk use and to slot into pub/convenience store settings and for event catering."
