Manchester brewer JW Lees has launched three new cask beers and announced plans for a range of seasonal brews for the first time.
The three new beers are:
•John Willie's (4.5% abv) - "A Premium bitter named after Mr JW Lees himself. The lightly coloured, robust beer is smooth to drink and has a nutty finish. Made from pale ale malt, northdown hops and golding hops, it is a well balanced, full bodied beer."
•Brewer's Dark (3.5% abv) - "Tipped to fast become a firm favourite with cask ale fans, this dark-coloured beer is smooth, well-rounded and light to drink. It has enticingly sweet undertones of liquorice and chocolate and a full malty aftertaste. As this beer has won a CAMRA gold award, it should not disappoint."
•Scorcher (4.2% abv) - "The popularity of this beer over previous summers as a seasonal beer, has led to it being added to the JW Lees stable range for 2008. Regardless of the time of year, Scorcher's fruity aroma and refreshing hop finish will entice beer lovers all year round."
A range of seasonal and special occasion beers will also be available for limited periods throughout 2008, the brewer said.
JW Lees managing director William Lees-Jones said: "We want to offer pubs variety and exciting new beers that will keep customers returning.
"There are traditional ale drinkers that find a beer they like and stick to it but there are also those that like trying something new.
"By adding to our permanent offering, whilst introducing the new seasonal products, we can cater for both types of drinker.
"Cask beer is a big area of focus for us in 2008, this is the one area in which supermarkets simply can't compete as the products cannot be replicated in supermarkets due to the beer being cask conditioned."
