Greene King Pub Partners has launched a new programme to help licensees improve their food offering.
The Food Store was developed in conjunction with food consultancy Food Works and the system supports licensees who want to improve their food offer and create a menu to suit their customer base.
Greene King tenants Cheryl Horn and Tracey Vallis at the Crown and Anchor in Chichester have used the system. Previously, prison officers, the pair took on the pub and continued with its original menu.
With the help of the Food Store they have improved profit margins, improved local suppliers and reduced costs. Takings have risen from £5000 to £7000 a week and wine sales have doubled.
Cheryl said: "The support from Food Works via Pub Partners Food Store was pitched at the right level for us and our business. It has given us a fresh impetus with regards to food and more confidence in what we are doing".
James Rowe, marketing controller of Greene King Pub Partners, said: "Food Store provides our licensees with a whole range of tools to help them introduce or enhance their food offer. They are able to develop their menu using the online menu creator, print their own menus or take the opportunity of receiving a dedicated visit from a food specialist to help them further. The system has been designed to help licensees with all different levels of experience in food."
