The Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) has launched its Christmas Appeal to help raise funds for those who work in the trade.

Every year, the Christmas Appeal helps raise funds for those in the licensed trade who have no-one else to turn to.

The Charity has reported a 10% increase in calls for help in 2007.

"The LTC helps hundreds of people every year and each year we see an increase in the number of people contacting us for help, we expect 2008 to be no different," said LTC director of marketing and charity services Liz Gaffer.

"From relationship break-ups to debilitating illnesses, life changes considerably and often, when you least expect it and can't prepare for it.

"The Christmas Appeal is an important fundraising opportunity for us as an organisation and we are looking for both company and individual support."

Case Study: Barry RandallBarry worked as a drayman for Gibbs Mews for over 20 years. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 12 years ago and eventually had to give up the job he loved.

The LTC donated £1,500 to help Barry afford a new motorises wheelchair.

"You work hard, go along thinking everything is fine, and then out of the blue you find you are ill and life changes dramatically," he said.

"The LTC was a lifeline, helping me to face tomorrow with a smile."

Liz Gaffer added: "Your donation will help us to continue to provide the range of support and advice that we give.

It's not just the LTC that are counting on your support - the families who need it are too."
