AWT launches farmers' market
Chef and pub owner Antony Worrall Thompson has launched a twice-monthly farmers' market in Newbury.
Antony, who owns the Greyhound pub at Peppard Common, believes that buying local
produce cuts down food miles and supports local communities.
He said: "Produce that's in season is very important for our health and it's very important that we get back to those ways of doing things.
"Who wants strawberries in December or asparagus all year round?"
Making menus sizzle
The British Pig Executive (BPEX) has developed a leaflet to help pubs promote and sell sausages.
The Foodservice Guide to Selling Sausages on the Menu has been designed to help caterers capitalise on the range of varieties available, as well as offering a variety of cooking and serving ideas.
Copies of the guide are available by calling 01908 844114.
