To celebrate the 10th anniversary of British Sausage Week the British Pig Executive (BPEX) is challenging caterers to create Britain's Best Birthday Banger.
If your pub serves a specialist sausage variety or your chef wants to come up with your own birthday banger, then BPEX wants to hear from you.
The celebration of British Sausage Week has become a national tradition and this annual promotion of one of the UK's favourite foods gets bigger every
year.
The week, which runs from Monday 15 until Sunday 21 October 2007, provides licensees with a fantastic opportunity to generate interest and sales, as well as the chance of being recognised as creator of Britain's Best Banger.
BPEX foodservice trade manager Tony Goodger said: "Sausages continue to be a menu favourite no matter what the occasion; as part of a traditional breakfast, a lunchtime sandwich filling or evening meal and of course, a ubiquitous part of the summer barbecue. That's why British Sausage Week is an event chefs cannot afford to miss."
The level of involvement in the week can be as much or as little as each pub decides, from adding new varieties to their menu, creating a special celebratory birthday banger or running sausage-based promotions for the
week.
British Sausage Week will be supported by a nationwide consumer PR campaign to help drive up sales of sausages.
Licensees will be able to take advantage of special sausage week promotional kits, including posters, serviettes and balloons.
