A memorial service for George Gunson Bateman, JP, chairman of Batemans brewery, will be held at 1pm on Monday 23 July 2007 in St Botolph's Church, Boston, Lincolnshire. Admiral Taverns has placed 35 pubs within Yorkshire and the North East on the market. The properties consist of a number of long leasehold and freehold

opportunities and range in price from £200,000 to just above £1.1m. Fleurets is marketing the 35 pubs.

Newport Pub Co acquires Foden

Newport Pub Company has replenished its estate with the acquisition of Foden Inns, the four-strong, West-Midlands-based pub group, for an undisclosed sum. The deal for the four freehold pubs is the first by Newport since it sold its entire estate of 11 sites to Peter Brook's InnDeed Group for an undisclosed fee at the end

of January.

Collingwood is Drinkaware chief

Drinkaware has appointed Jean Collingwood as its first permanent CEO. With more than 15 years' experience of social marketing and communication roles in the charity sector, Collingwood was previously chief executive of Great British Wheelchair Rugby and of Ingenious Group, a social marketing consultancy.

Arson attack on Charles Wells pub

Police are hunting an arsonist after an historic Charles Wells pub was severely damaged in a blaze. Flames tore through the Kings Head, at Morton, on the Rutland/Lincolnshire border. No-one was in the building, which suffered cracked walls and lost most of its roof. Tenant Kelly Parker has been at the pub since December.
