Drinkers at two Nottingham pubs will be given free sweet cigarettes when they buy a pint as part of the final 'Smoking Day' in England's pubs.

The Bell Inn and the Trip to Jerusalem will be giving the sweet cigarettes away on Saturday, June 30th - the day before the ban comes in.

Richard Studeny, Nottingham Camra chairman, said: "I look forward to tasting this pint from a local brewer renowned for producing quality products."

Brian Rigby, general manager of the Bell Inn said: "Nottingham‚s world renowned smoking emporium celebrates its final finale.

"The strength of this Fag Ash Ale will hopefully numb the need for nicotine."

The cask-conditioned, 6.5% straw-coloured ale will be produced by the Nottingham Brewery, in Radford.

Philip Darby, co-director of the brewery said: "Hopefully this monster beer will bring attention to the drinking public about the ban, and at 6.5% it will take their minds off smoking, anyway."

Studeny added: "Being one of Britain's thousands of asthma sufferers, and not particularly partial to the stinky after stench smell of cigarette smoke lingering on my clothes, I can‚t wait for July 1st.
