There is life after the smoking ban - that will be the message of a new series of forums run by The Publican in conjunction with Racing UK and John Smiths.
The first five Publican Licensee Forums will take place at top horse-racing venues across the country and will focus on building business in the months ahead, and dealing with enforcement issues and best practice going forward, including case studies from licensees in Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The sessions are designed to be interactive to address licensees' queries and concerns, as well as offering the opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions with fellow publicans.
Following an informative morning session, licensees will then enjoy an afternoon of racing.
Tickets for the forums cost £20 plus VAT per person and this includes tea, coffee, buffet lunch and an afternoon at the races.
Caroline Nodder, editor of The Publican, said: "The last few years have seen licensees hit by a ton of new regulations culminating in the smoking ban, and the idea of these forums is to offer them a chance to talk about building their business going forward as well as having the opportunity to ask the questions they need answered. We hope this is just the beginning of a whole series of forums on a range of topics.
"Thanks to our key sponsors we have been able to offer a valuable and enjoyable day out for our core readers at a price that reflects the huge financial pressure they are under."
