Why they are on the list:
Selby Labour MP John Grogan continues to provide the industry with a vital voice at Westminster where he has proved a tireless campaigner on a variety of trade issues, including Sky's service to pubs and, more recently, cheap alcohol sold by the supermarkets.
Humphreys remains one of the vital links between the brewing and licensed trade and the world of politics. He is also heavily involved with the identity card issue through his chairmanship of the Proof of Age Standards Scheme and co-ordinates the Community Pubs Inquiry, which seeks to tackle the main problems confronting small local hostelries.
What the past year has held:
Grogan's Commons Early Day Motion (EDM) condemning cheap off-trade booze prices has attracted the signatures of no less than 192 MPs. He also worked with the Morning Advertiser to launch an EDM that condemned moves to introduce a blanket ban on glasses.
Identity cards and the plight of community locals are two of the hot topics Humphreys has been dealing with. The trade is still dogged by the counterfeit IDs issue, while the shock results of a recent Camra survey revealed that up to 14 pubs are now closing down in Britain each week. The Community Pubs Inquiry has been attended by various MPs and ministers and some of the main complaints from licensees about red tape and business problems have been fully aired.
Challenges ahead:
Grogan says his supermarket prices campaign remains active and the months ahead will see him continue to monitor how the big stores promote and market their discounted deals. He will also busy himself promoting the industry to whoever crosses his path. The trade eagerly awaits the publication of the Beer Group's report into the plight of community pubs.
