The Thorns pub in Brierley Hill has been voted the Best Eating Place Pub in the West Midlands by its regulars.
The pub came top of a poll in the the Spotlight Awards, hosted by the local newspaper the Wolverhampton Express & Star and radio station Heart FM, and voted for by people in the area.
Marston's Pub Company licensee Paul Skitt and Head Chef Richard Percival were runaway winners in the pub food category. "We are delighted with the result - it is great to pick up any industry award but even more so when it's voted for by your customers." said Paul.
Paul and Richard focus thon quality, good value food, with a family pub focus.
Paul said: "We are committed to offering our customers a wide range of dishes, freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients. This way we have a tight control on the quality of everything we serve, can vary our menu to reflect seasonal produce and are helping support other industries within the local area."
Trade starts early at The Thorns with an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast from 8.30am.
Richard said: "Many people associate a cooked breakfast with greasy café's. We wanted to change that perception. We grill rather than fry our breakfasts and serve it as a buffet so our customers can control how much they eat."
The children's menu features smaller portions of adult dishes. Richard said: "We did consider designing a menu just for kids, but in a world where parent often struggle to get their children to eat healthily we decided it would be better for children to choose from the same fresh dishes as other members of their family."
