Licensee vows to fight against till roll supplier
Cheshire licensee is continuing to stand his ground in a year long dispute with a Canadian-based till roll company.
Paper Roll Logistics is one of the companies which was exposed by The Publican last year for selling unsolicited till rolls for credit card terminals to UK pubs.
The company phones the pub and asks if there is someone there to take a delivery and implies they are from the licensee's bank.
When the unordered till roll arrives a whopping bill for anything up to £300 is sent for products that are worth closer to £30.
Guy Danner, licensee of the Cat and Fiddle near Macclesfield, Cheshire, received a delivery in March 2006 with a bill for £209.15 for unordered till rolls and is refusing to pay for them.
He said he accepted the delivery after the delivery team told him they were from his bank.
He said he was misled and is now telling Paper Roll Logistics that, rather than paying the company, he wants payment for over a year's storage.
He said: "I was contacted by a collections officer about outstanding payment. I told him 'you owe me storage charges and speak to me through my solicitor'."
Guy has vowed to fight on against Paper Roll Logistics and is advising all licensees to make a stand against such behaviour. He said he has already written to the company, putting forward his concerns.
Despite repeated calls and a fax from thepublican.com, Paper Roll Logistics was unavailable for comment.
