The winners of Marston's Fantasy Ashes competition, run in association with The Publican, have been treated to the ultimate cricketing prize - a trip to the World Cup in the West Indies.

Licensees and customers as well as top performing staff from within the entire Marston's company, won an all expenses paid trip to Barbados, which included a trip to the Kensington Oval to watch England play.

The overall winner of the Fantasy Ashes competition, which challenged drinkers to come up with the best 'fantasy team' from all the players competing in last winter's Ashes series, was New Zealander Clayton Shanks.

"I was ecstatic about winning," he said. "And I want to thank Marston's for a fantastic trip."

Other winners included Jennifer Millar and Sheila Lugg from the Trefusis Arms in Redruth, Cornwall. They won the trade Fantasy Ashes competition and were thrilled with the prize. Mrs Millar said: "We serve Marston's Pedigree in the pub and our regulars love it. I really enjoy limited overs cricket and where better to watch it than Barbados? Marston's was a fantastic host and we had an amazing trip."

Marston's Brewing Company marketing director Peter Jackson said: "The trip to Barbados gave us an excellent opportunity to reward our top performers and competition winners.

"All our activity is driven by our support of English cricket and the England cricket team. It was fantastic to be able to support the team in the Caribbean. Marston's and cricket is the perfect partnership between two of England's greatest institutions."
