WaverleyTBS and Welsh brewer and operator SA Brain have announced a 10-year strategic partnership.

Under a reciprocal trading agreement, WaverleyTBS (WTBS) will supply wines and spirits to SA Brain's (SAB's) pub estate and free trade sales channel whilst SAB will supply its cask brands to WTBS for sales development and distribution throughout the UK.

WaverleyTBS will also acquire Manor House Wine Merchants Ltd from SAB for an undisclosed figure. The acquisition of Manor House Wine is a great step to consolidate our position as the leading wine led on-trade wholesaler in South Wales.Jeff Jamet, WaverleyTBS - Managing Director

Manor House Wine Merchants (MHWM) sells and distributes a range of wines, beer, spirits and soft drinks to around 600 wine-led on-trade customers in South Wales, particularly restaurants and hotels.

WaverleyTBS (WTBS), which last year acquired the independent wholesaler, Cellar Wines Direct (CWD), will also take a lease on part of SAB's depot at Parc Ty Glas in North Cardiff. MHWM will be integrated with CWD into that new depot.

WaverleyTBS Managing Director, Jeff Jamet said: "The acquisition of Manor House Wine is a great step to consolidate our position as the leading wine led on-trade wholesaler in South Wales.

"The acquisition gives us the opportunity to introduce our composite range to MHWM's customers and to extend an improved service offering to our customers in Wales.

"This acquisition also represents a unique opportunity for WaverleyTBS to further develop its relationship with a strong regional brewer with a first class pub estate."

SAB's chief executive Scott Waddington said: "I would firstly like to thank the MWHW team for their excellent work in building a very successful wine business. The partnership with WTBS will provide excellent benefits to SAB, particularly their category management skills and services to our pubs and free trade sales channel.

"It will also provide SAB with the opportunity to further grow its cask ales throughout the UK, particularly Brains SA, Rev James and SA Gold. We look forward to a very positive working relationship with WTBS over the coming years."
