Daniel Thwaites is continuing to use its 200 year celebrations to highlight the company's investment in cask ale, with Wainwright ale the latest seasonal beer to be added to the brewery's portfolio.
The name of the beer is linked to Alfred Wainwright, who was born in Blackburn in 1907, when Thwaites were just celebrating the halfway point of their bi-centenary. Wainwright went on to became famous for his books depicting coastal walks and Lakeland pictorial guides, of which he sold over two million to date.
Wainwright Ale will be available for a limited two month period in April and May and the refreshing straw-coloured beer with soft fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness that comes from the fine malt, will only be available in the on trade.
For every pint sold, a donation will be given to Kapellan, an Animal Rescue in Kendal, where Wainwright was chairman and gave a considerable amount of money to the charity.
Lee Williams, Thwaites brands marketing manager said: "The 4.1% beer is yet another one to add to our mid-strength range and it utterly drinkable! We look forward to launching it in the pubs to gain feedback from our customers and keep the 200 year celebrations going in our bars and pubs.
"The Wainwright Society is celebrating a special year too, so it is apt that we name the beer after Alfred and launch it during their centenary year. It is a great thirst quenching beer, perfect after a long day's walk."
