Two Yorkshire farmers have joined forces with Newcastle Brown Ale to launch a pork an ale sausage.

Debbie and Andrew Keeble launched the sizzlers to coincide with Newcastle Brown Ale's 80th Anniversary year.

The Debbie & Andrew's Pork and Ale sausage has taken over a year to perfect and hundreds of beers were tried, before Newcastle Brown Ale was selected for the final recipe. This recipe, in keeping with Debbie & Andrew Keeble's sausage making traditions, has been kept simple and the basis for the sausage is lean British pork shoulder and fresh seasoning.

According to the PR: "The addition of fresh breadcrumbs soaked in Newcastle Brown Ale complements the pork and adds richness for a fuller flavour."

Debbie Keeble says: "We don't believe in making sausages with weird and wacky ingredients. We love developing new ideas, but will only consider ingredients that we know will give the best flavour and not overpower the pork - that's why the ale sausage works so well.

"Working with a brewer in our regional heartland was also important to us and we tried lots of different beers, but Newcastle Brown Ale came out tops. The hops give a rich, dark taste that work well with the pork and seasoning and the ale keeps the meat really moist."

The sausages go on sale in selected Morrisons stores in the North East of England from this month.
