John Flint and Tracey Tunnicliffe have bought the freehold of the Blue Bell Inn off an asking price of £750,000.
The substantial freehouse comprises a contemporary restaurant with 52 covers and has gained a decent reputation for food over the years. The trade is 72 % food-led.
The couple moved from the Bell and Harp in Little Eaton, Derbyshire. "We want to continue to build up the pub's reputation for producing good food," said Flint.
"And we want to take it to a higher level."
They also plan to extend the pub.
"If we get planning permission, we would like to extend the building at the front to create a new bar dining area in the same character as the rest of the building. That would mean the current bar dining area could be used as an area to have a pre-dinner drink or post-dinner coffee."
Turnover at the Blue Bell In is currently £400,000 (inc VAT) with net profits approaching £100,000.
The pub also has a picturesque garden and owners' accommodation consisting of four double bedrooms.
"We had two purchasers who both wished to buy this lovely desirable and profitable licensed property. Following
consultation with our vendor client, the decision was made to sell to John Flint and Tracey Tunnicliffe, who are local successful business people and are already highly regarded in operating licensed businesses," said Guy Simmonds managing director Stephen Taylor.
