Hoops hunt Red Devil scalps
The UEFA Champions League takes centre stage once more. While many fans will be criss-crossing the Continent to watch their heroes in action, what is arguable the pick of fixtures this time round takes place right here in Britain.
Two titans from the Scottish and English Premierships meet for their second fixture this season on Tuesday, and if it's anything like the first meeting, it should be compulsive viewing.
Any match between Celtic and Manchester United would instantly draw a crowd, but as this is a Champions League match with neither side yet certain of qualifying for the next round, it takes on added importance.
Man U took the spoils from the sides' previous Group F encounter back in September. The Red Devils' battling 3-2 win over the Hoops was the perfect start to their Champions League campaign. Two wins against their other group rivals - Benfica and FC Copenhagen - followed.
It was on the road away to FC Copenhagen that Man U came unstuck. A shock 1-0 defeat to the Danish side has opened up the race to qualify for the next stage.
If Celtic can pull off a win at home to Man U, and Benfica beat the Danes, then progression will come down to the final matches of the group.
With Man U riding high in the Premiership, having only dropped points to Reading and Arsenal before this weekend, who would begrudge the Hoops this European scalp? Neutrals and rival fans alike are sure to fill the pubs, baying for Red Devil blood. The Deuchars and the Tennent's may prove popular.
In Group A on Wednesday, Chelsea take on the Bundes-liga's Werder Bremen, the side currently second on the group table.
Following the mesmerising 2-2 draw against major rivals Barcelona, the Blues can secure a spot in the next round if they avoid defeat in Germany.
