Pub security group wants end of 'one man doors'
A group of pub door supervisors have launched a campaign to put an end to 'one man doors'.
The Working The Doors lobby group says the practice of single doorstaff at licensed premises is not safe and should be banned.
There is still room for much more improvement for door supervisors within the security industrySpokesman for Working The Doors.
A spokesman said: "Although many changes have taken place recently, we feel that there is still room for much more improvement for door supervisors within the security industry and one area is bringing about an end to working one man doors.
"A one man door‚ involves a door supervisor working by themselves at a venue which may have anything from 20-200 plus people in at any given time.
"The Security Industry Authority themselves recommend that if a patron has to be escorted from the premises, a minimum of two door supervisors should be available."
The group, which as launched a petition, says using just one door supervisor puts everyone, including staff and customers, at risk.
