Guernsey brewer RW Randall is up for sale following what appears to be an internal disagreement over the company's future.

"The company has reached a turning point," marketing director Ben Randall told thePublican.com.

The reason for the sale was "majority shareholders wanting to realise the value of their investment and we are currently reviewing all our options," he added.

Such options for the group, which as well as brewing beers such as Island Gold and Cynful operates 18 pubs and hotels on the island, include a management buyout or private investment.

Mr Randall said the company hoped it could be sold as a going concern.

Local interest is believed to include CI Traders, which owns leisure activities - pubs, bars and hotels - and property development interests.

Mr Randall said there had also been soundings from pub operators in the UK, together with brewers and venture capitalists as well as property companies.

The process should be completed by March next year, he added, with indications as early as late January.
