An Oxfordshire brewer's efforts for charity have made such an impact that it has had a prestigious research grant named in its honour.
Hook Norton Brewery and the surrounding community have been supporting Leukaemia Research for 20 years. Their support began after the current managing director at the brewery, James Clarke, sadly lost his sister Victoria to leukaemia in 1986.
Now Leukaemia Research has dedicated a research grant to the community - and the first Hook Norton Fellowship has been awarded to Oxford doctor Dr Graham Collins.
"The Clarke family, Hook Norton Brewery and the community in Hook Norton have all been fantastic in supporting Leukaemia Research over the years," said Cathy Gilman, director of fundraising at Leukaemia Research. "Their efforts have helped us bring hope to thousands of blood cancer sufferers and their families across the UK, and this is our way of saying thank you."
James Clarke commented: "We are honoured to have this fellowship dedicated to the Hook Norton community. My family have may started the fund raising, but it is the local community who continue to work wholeheartedly to raise funds for Leukaemia Research."
