During his current F word series, Gordon Ramsay revealed he has a low sperm count.
The three-Michelin starred chef, who nevertheless has four children, claims his lack of sperm is down to standing close to hot surfaces for a long period of time.
PubChef asked chefs if they were worried about their own little swimmers.
Adrian Walker, head chef the Staunton Arms, Staunton-in-the-vale, Nottinghamshire
"I thought they needed to be warm to produce, don't they? To be honest it's not something I've ever thought about. I certainly won't be losing any sleep over it. I've never had a problem!"
Mark Iverson, head chef Lydden Bell, Kent
"I suppose it is a bit worrying. Though why Ramsay thinks it's to do with standing close to hot surfaces, I don't know because he never stands still for more than about two minutes. I suppose it might be a concern for chefs."
Hylton Le Roux, head chef, the Grange, Ealing
"I've never thought about it until now. I guess it could be true. That area of your body is nearly always near a hot surface. I might have to go and get checked out."
Gareth Eddy, head chef, the Old Custom House, Padstow, Cornwall
"It's a load of rubbish. I've got three children and I've been roasting my balls since I was 13. Most of my chef friends have children and there are many elements that cause low sperm counts. If you eat good food and look after yourself and it's supposed to happen, it will."
