'We've put notes up around the pub explaining the changes so everyone is aware of what is going to happen. During the week we will only use the extra time to allow customers to drink up more leisurely. We really only plan to serve later on Friday and Saturdays. Most regulars agree it's going to end speed drinking against the clock so things should be done more leisurely.'

'Everyone who comes in is very aware of the new laws and most appear to be looking forward to it. But it's going to be a case of trial and error until things settle. People will only have the same money to spend and I guess a lot of people will just come out a bit later. The main benefit for me is being able to use the extra hours for one-off events without having to go down to court for an extension.'

'People are now finally realising that the extra hours are on the way, but I do not think many actually know the full extent of what the new licensing laws actually entail. We have got a 3am licence and plan to extend our entertainment, especially at weekends. It seems to be the younger ones who are getting most excited about the extra hours.'

'Few customers have asked me what hours we are going to open, even though we had the statutory notice posted in the pub window. I think many people assume they will be able to walk into a pub at any time and get a drink. We've got the Daily Mail to thank for that! It'll be an interesting few weeks when the law comes in and it will take time for things to settle.'
