Hundreds of licensees have registered to take part in the first round of our CaskForce promotion where one lucky reader will win a year's free rent.

The unique competition, launched last week exclusively by Marston's and the Morning Advertiser, has already caught the imagination of pubs vying to win the top prize as well as several others in the first of eight monthly prize draws. To be in with a chance of winning the October draw, readers must buy at least one nine-gallon keg of Marston's and register the unique code by calling the CaskForce hotline on 0800 028 1969 or visiting www.caskforce.co.uk

All entries must be registered by 5pm on Tuesday 18 October.

The winners of the eight monthly draws will each win £4,000 to spend on improving their pub as well as a place in the grand final where they will compete to win the ultimate prize of a year's free rent. A further 50 pubs will win a day's free training in their outlet on the BII-accredited Award in Beer and Cellar Quality course.

John McNamara, chief executive of the BII, pledged his support for the promotion and the fact that licensees would be trained in their pubs.

He said: 'We are delighted that Marston's have taken on the BIIAB Award in Beer and Cellar Quality as part of their quality message. We are particularly impressed that they are able to take training out to the pubs to support individual licensees in this unique use of their beer quality team. We wish them every success with this excellent initiative.'
