One of Scotland's most famous, award-winning pubs - the Peat Inn near St Andrews - has just come onto the market for the first time in 33 years.
The inn's owners, award-winning chef David Wilson and his wife Patricia, have decided to sell it in order to retire.
Originally a coaching inn, the property is in the centre of the hamlet of Peat, which is six miles from the golfing and university town of St Andrews in the East Neuk of Fife.
Alan Goldie, of Christie & Co's Edinburgh office, said: 'The Peat Inn benefits from a superb situation and all-year round business which attracts a clientele not only from Fife but nationally and internationally, and of course, tourists and golfers drop in regularly.
'Consistently rated amongst Britain's best by food guides, David Wilson's cooking has an international reputation. The business has been awarded three rosettes for the restaurant and two red stars for the hotel by the AA, among other accolades.'
He added that it featured a 'delightful' 48-cover restaurant, but in the late 1980s the Wilsons added on the 'Residence' which is a self-contained building next door to the restaurant that has eight suites - seven are designed on a split-level basis.
The business also benefits from a four-bedroom manager/owner's flat, together with staff accommodation also on site.
David Wilson added: 'Patricia and myself are sad to have decided to put the Peat Inn on the market after 33 wonderful years.
'Enthusiastic new owners could easily extend the building to increase turnover and Patricia and myself very much hope that the business will stay privately owned by people who have the enthusiasm to run a high quality, traditional country inn.'
Christie & Co is seeking offers in excess of £750,000 for the Peat Inn's freehold.
