for Wheelhouse

After three years at the helm of the Wheelhouse in Minehead, Somerset, restaurateurs Mike and Janet Lee have decided to retire from the trade and put the successful licensed venue on the market.

Martin Blacoe, of Christie & Co's Exeter office, said: 'Our clients have traded at the Wheelhouse restaurant successfully for three years.

'The business has an excellent reputation and enjoys an all-year trade with seasonal boost. Due to the large four-bedroom owner's accommodation over two floors, the property would perhaps suit two families.

'This is an opportunity to acquire an attractive, freehold restaurant within a prime location in this sought after Somerset seaside town.

The property is a detached, three-storey, half-timbered property on Minehead's main thoroughfare a tree-lined avenue, which is in the heart of the old town and within easy reach of the esplanade, harbour and beach.

Known as the 'gateway to Exmoor, Minehead bordered the Exmoor National Park and was close to some of the most scenic countryside in the south west, added Blacoe.

'This traditional seaside holiday resort, renowned for its wide sandy beach, is the largest and busiest coastal town in west Somerset.

'The Wheelhouse is an attractive and established licensed restaurant offering lunchtime and evening menus and it has lots of character and ambience with exposed beams and leaded light windows.

It features an air-conditioned, 56-seat licensed restaurant with a trade terrace for more diners, catering kitchen, four-bedroom owner's accommodation, large outdoor stores and parking spaces.

Christie & Co is seeking £495,000 for the freehold interest of the Wheelhouse.
