The White Horse Inn in Clun is the first pub to receive a new building improvement grant from the Enterprise South West Shropshire Country Pubs scheme.

Jack Limond, licensee of the pub, has spent the grant to provide more accommodation. "I get numerous requests for accommodation from tourists visiting the pub" said Jack. "But, until now I have had to turn people away as I did not have enough rooms.

"This grant has really made the difference in being able to convert two of my upstairs rooms into ensuite bedrooms providing a standard that visitors now expect".

Grants of up to 50 per cent are jointly financed by the European Union Advantage West Midlands and South Shropshire District Council.

Several other pubs have already requested grants but there are still funds available. Call Anne-Marie Jackson at Enterprise South West Shropshire on 01588 630499for details.
