PubChef previews the Restaurant Show and Restaurant Live, which will showcase the best the industry has to offer later this month.

This year sees the birth of a new show for the restaurant industry - one that promises to be the biggest and the best that has ever been staged in this country.

The Restaurant Show and Restaurant Live is a consequence of the merger of William Reed Publishing (owner of the Restaurant Show and Hotel & Restaurant magazine) and TRG (owner of Restaurant magazine and Restaurant Live). More than 13,000 visitors are expected over the three days from Monday 19 September to Wednesday 21 September.

There will be plenty to see because more than 300 exhibitors have booked space inside London's Olympia exhibition centre.

This presents visitors with the unique opportunity of catching up with everything that is happening in the restaurant world under one roof and all in one day.

The firms exhibiting represent all aspects of the trade from catering equipment to furniture and interior design, from cutlery to crockery, from glassware to tableware, from ingredients to prepared products, from fresh to frozen goods, as well as all manner of wines, beers, spirits and nonalcoholic drinks.

As with previous shows, there will be ample opportunities

for attendees to sample the food and drink on offer and discuss matters first-hand with representatives of the suppliers.

There will also be live cookery demonstrations given by some of the country's leading chefs as well as the chance to see

chefs, old and young, battle it out in culinary competitions.

Another innovation sees students of the Westminster Kingsway College showcasing their creativity in a 100-cover restaurant that has been purpose built for the show. Visitors will be able to book a table at the restaurant and experience the capabilities of the next generation of chefs who are about to enter the trade.

In addition, there will be the highly successful College Restaurant of the Year, where the winners, Lancaster and

Morecambe, will be demonstrating their varied award-winning skills.
