Police are investigating the death of a man who was shot in an east London pub.
It is believed that the unnamed man got in an argument with others on Wednesday night last week at the Red Lion pub in Ilford Hill. Two of the dead man's friends were also injured in the incident, which happened at about 9.30pm.
Paramedics were called to the pub where they found the man dead. Other drinkers reportedly directed them to the two injured friends, who had fled before police arrived.
The two injured people were discovered later, both with gunshot wounds. A woman in her mid-20s was found in an off-licence in Cranbrook Road, and a man was found outside.
The two injured people were both taken to hospital. The woman is in a stable condition, but the man's state is described as more serious.
Police warning follows armed raids
Midlands police are warning that an armed gang may be deliberately targeting pubs following three raids in five days.
In the latest raid on 8 August, shots were fired into the air as three masked men forced staff to hand over cash from the till and the safe at closing time at the Wheatsheaf, in Laney Green, Cannock.
This followed a similar raid the previous day at the Trooper pub, at Wall, near Lichfield. Here, three masked raiders forced staff to hand over cash. In this raid customers were also forced to hand over personal belongings.
And on 5 August, in a similar raid, three masked men forced their way into the Catch Corner, at Acton Gate, near Stafford.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: 'There may well be a link between these three robberies and we would urge all publicans in the area to double check on security until this matter is resolved.
Two arrested after helicopter swoop
A police helicopter landed in a Cambridgeshire beer garden before officers arrested two suspected thieves in the pub.
The helicopter was deployed after reports of two men trying to break into a telephone box in Spaldwick. Police spotted the suspected thieves and followed them to the White Horse in Tilbrook. The helicopter landed in the garden and one officer entered the pub and arrested the men on 31 July.
The men have since appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates Court charged with attempted theft. One of the men pleaded guilty and is due to appear for sentencing at a later date. The other denied the charge and is awaiting trial.
Youth arrested after pub glassing brawl
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and bailed in connection with a brawl involving up to 30 people at a Humberside pub.
Police said the brawl in the garden of the Bucket & Spade in Cleethorpes was sparked by a glassing attack on a man at around 8.20pm. Two groups of friends then clashed violently.
A door supervisor was punched a number of times by up to five youths when he went to calm the situation.
Police want to speak to customers who were drinking in the pub as the incident unfolded on Friday last week. Anyone with information can call Humberside Police on 0845 6060 222.
Grieving assault man escapes jail
A man who hit another customer in a Lincolnshire pub after attending his wife's funeral has escaped jail.
Luke Britton of Holbeach also stamped on the head of Stephen Murphy in the town's Crown pub after he went to the funeral of his wife and a friend on the same day.
Lincoln Crown Court heard last week that Britton hit Murphy as an 'emotional response after Murphy approached him to calm the grieving man down.
Murphy was knocked unconscious and later received hospital treatment for bruising on the back of his head, double vision and a perforated ear drum.
Briton, 24, of Albert Walk, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and was given a 12-month jail term suspended for two years.
Nicola Devas, mitigating, said Britton was 'struggling to come to terms with the death of his wife, who was killed in a road accident.
