'To be honest, I don't know much about it apart from it's something to do with Bob Geldof and they've stopped tickets being sold on eBay. I've got a 900-year-old pub, we don't have a TV and we're situated in the middle of a field.

'Not really, to be honest. We don't think it will make a difference to our business. We've got a big screen, but we won't be showing Live 8. Whilst it's great to have the bands on, it does drag on and anyone who wants to watch it will probably watch it at home.

No, it's been over-hyped. I think it's a bit of attention seeking and I think Africa is almost a lost cause; I can't see the concerts making any difference. If it works, great, but I think there are possibly better ways of raising money for Africa. There's so much corruption and bribery (in Africa) I don't see the money ever getting to those who need it.

'Absolutely. A few of our customers are going. It'll be business as usual, but we'll have the TVs on showing the live footage. We plan to have staff donate 50% of their tips for the day and I'll top that up myself. It'll be interesting to see Pink Floyd as they were heroes of mine in the '70s.

'Because we're in Devon and close to the Eden Project gig, the local paper has been making a big fuss over it. However the general feeling in the bar is one of grand indifference. I've a TV in the bar so if someone wants to watch it I'll put it on.
