Greene King Pub Company has reworked its 'Pony Club' menu for children at Hungry Horse pubs, to include many more healthy options.

The menu includes heart-shaped icons containing nutritional information, as well as a 'Be Healthy - 5 A Day' logo, to remind kids and their parents of the recommended daily portion of fruit and vegetables.

Among the options, Greene King has added more vegetables including corn on the cob, carrots, and fresh fruit as dessert. Children can also choose an additional portion of vegetables for just 25p.

New main dishes include salad with a choice of two toppings from tuna, chicken, prawns and cheese, and a low fat spaghetti and meatballs dish.

'Horsey Shapes' have been replaced with grilled whole chicken breast, and 'Fish Ticklers' replaced with whole plaice fillet.

Adam Collett, marketing director at Greene King Pub Company said: "Following several months of research and development, this new menu has a strong emphasis on healthy options.

"Our ongoing commitment is to provide our customers with the ability to make a choice about their diet, and the same principle applies to both children and adults. As customer attitudes and expectations evolve, we will continue to adapt our menus."
