Continuing our series on the rich and famous who enjoy their food - Tony Blair

NAME: Tony Charles Lynton Blair.

AGE: 51.

FAVOURITE FOOD: Includes fish and chips, bananas, steak, nuts, BLT.

HIS LIFE: Born in Edinburgh on 6 May 1953, Tony spent most of his childhood in Durham. He studied law at Oxford and then became a barrister, like his father. At the age of 30 he won the seat of Sedgefield for the Labour party and in 1997 became Britain's Prime Minister. Married to Cherie, he has four children.

HIS ACHIEVEMENTS: Britain's youngest Prime Minister since 1812 and the longest-serving Labour PM.

HIS CHALLENGES: "Tone" has found himself at the centre of many controversies concerning food. In 1999, campaigners opposed to the introduction of genetically modified foods dumped four tonnes of GM soya beans outside Downing Street.

More recently Mr Blair has faced increasing pressure over the quality of school meals. Jamie Oliver recently visited Number 10 to present Tony with a 271,000-strong petition backing his high-profile drive to improve food standards in schools.

HIS FOOD: Breakfast: In November 2004, the Daily Express discovered that while the Blairs were staying at a Brighton hotel, a bowl of fruit and a bowl of nuts were delivered to their room every day, but only the bananas were eaten.

Lunch: The New Statesman reported that during a Sheffield radio phone-in, Mr Blair named a BLT as his favourite sarnie.

Dinner: During a recent interview with Little Ant and Dec, Mr Blair told the cheeky pair that he had not tried the controversial Turkey Twizzlers, but that he liked chips. In fact, he is reported to like nothing more than a fish and chip supper in front of the TV. Tony's contributions to charity recipe books may give us an insight into what's served at the Blair's dinner table.

Ranging from meatballs in tomato sauce to fresh fettuccini garnished with a sauce of olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes and capers, it's obvious that he's been taking a few tips from Mr Oliver.
